Come on down and post at will

On anchor rollers: I use a snubber, yes. But my rollers are through bolted to the boat with, I believe, 6 or 8 bolts and hang over the bow only a bit. I have never thought they were inadequate to bring in the anchor, even if breaking it out under power, or to hold the chain as it goes out over the bow. I will rethink that, but Jim Ball, I don't see how one could make a much stronger anchor roller for the 382.

On refrigeration: Jim C., I have added removal insulation on the insides and inside the bottom of the box, but not drilled into the sides to "fill" the voids where old insulation may have disappeared. Did you do that? I have an engine driven compressor, water cooled lines, running a holding plate. If I run my engine for an hour a day, the box stays cold with the current system, but I am not sure how much longer I can keep it alive. I have considered changing to a Frigoboat. What kind of amperage do you think it requires? do you run one on your Catalina in the Caribbean? How many hours a day does it run and draw on the batteries? Thanks.

Terry, I guess it depends on what was OEM from Morgan if anything. Mine was though bolt through the cap and extended approx. 8 beyond the teak cap. Perhaps Morgan left the roller to the buyer or broker that sold them. I only saying that strong downward forces can put great stress on the roller that extends outward beyond the hull.

The roller(s) should fit the anchor(s) you are carrying and be able to secure to the anchor.

The Frigaboat system with the keel cooler is extremely efficient. Because it doesn't use 12v power to run a water pump or an electric fan to cool the compressor it already uses less power. It then has a smart speed controller that runs the compressor only as needed. On start up it draws 6 amps. Once the temp is down in the box the current draw drops. Depending on how often the box is opened is what determines the amps used. When we went to the Bahamas for 8 1/2 months the solar panels (130 watts) kept the system going except for one 5 day rainy spell where we ran the engine for amps. The most important thing in the system is the box and how well it is insulated. No refrigeration system, no matter how good it is, will work well with the box that came on our Morgans. How about how much propane do you carry? I have been told to get fiberglass or aluminum tanks to fuel my propane stove top..
2 tanks ? like BBQ grill size?
I'm just new at this.. ! lee

Lee,
BBQ's use twenty pound tanks. You need two ten pound tanks. And yes they have to be aluminum or fiberglass. otherwise you run the risk of gas leaks. There are discussions on this subject on the forum, do a search.

Lee, please start new threads or reopen a topic in the Archieves as Jose said. This thread is not helpful for searching topics in the future.
Thanks!
