i am a crew member on a sea explorer ship that has a morgan 38. I was wondering how one goes about telling the differance between all the differant types of morgan 38 from that time frame.
Michele,
The M-382 thru M-384 series all share essentially the same hull and deck, but have some small differences in the deckhouse.
The most significant visible difference is that the M-382's came with end-of-boom mainsheets, whereas the 383's and 384's have mid-boom sheeting, plus a taller mast and a shorter boom. Some 382 owners have converted to mid-boom sheeting, so mid-boom sheeting by itself may not tell you which is which. Also, the 382's don't have dorade boxes on the cabintop. I understand that the 383 has two dorade boxes and the 384 may have three or more. Perhaps one of those owners could help with specifics.
Good luck...
