spartite mast block

Has anyone out there installed a Spartite rubber mast support?
You know, the thing that takes the place of wedges around the
mast at the partners. They advertise it in all the mags and West
Marine sells it. If so, what was your experience with
installation and performance? Thanks.

I installed Spartite on a former boat and it worked veryy well. I had leaks before but not a drop after. The stuff is blue, so be sure you don't get any on the deck.

And how hard is it to install. Do you have to build some sort of dam inside the cabin so it does not leak down the mast and through the partners?

<div>Do not install Spartite in hot weather. The heat makes installing the damn almost impossible to do and not leak. A friend of mine installed his in mid-August - big mistake. The damn melted before he the spartite could set. What a mess below. Do it in cool weather and re-enforce the damn as described in the instruction and you will have no problems.Fairwinds and Rum Drinks,Vic

Easy to install, but not in hot weather. The dam is made of clay provided in the kit. You build the dam from below and pour the blue stuff in on top. Bob
