Potiential Storage Space

<div>Has anyone "investigated" the area below the cut-out for the
galley stove? The space I'm referring to is between the hull and
the "floor" for the stove. I was curious about there being
enough useable space under there to make cutting an access hole
a worthwhile venture.Fred

<div>Fred. I have a locker with an opening door there (factory installed). I keep a couple of cast iron skilets there.Jay

I've opened that area up and installed a teak door to match the existing doors. The space is deep but very skinny. My wife, Bonnie, uses it to stow cookie sheets and flat cooking pans. Once the space was opened we then went and purchased the pans to fit. A worthwhile project.

<div>I have a CM 38. I cut the hole in the front under the stove location and put in a door that folds down. West Catalogue. I have enough space to store all sorts of stuff. extra winch handles, pipe wrenches, hammers, extra pullies and other stuff. It is a good storage space to access. I also accesed the wall on the starboard quarterberth. I cut three holes and installed the same type of door only the next size larger as under the stove. Mucho space in that spot also.Capt Robert E

<div>An afterthought to the last post. I also put a piece of teak trim across the opening in the space directly below the stove. Two medium size Sears black plastic tool boxes fit directly under the stove and the trim holds them in place on a heel.
Go into the V-berth area and hold a piece of cardboard up from the shelf to the headliner and look at the storage space formed behind the cardboard. unbelieveable. I built a three door cabinet on eather side. I have three shelves on the starboard side and two on the port. It is a dry storage for clothing. It holds enough for my wife and I on an extended cruse.
All sorts of storage space is available with a little forethought.Capt Robert E

Very interesting discussions on this topic. Whoever originally bought Stella Maris took out the original stove and built a cabinet in place of the stove and then placed a three burner tabletop stove on top of the cabinet. The cabinet holds all of the cooking pots, pans, tops, etc., even the large size pots. I did the same thing that Capt Bob did in the focsle, built cabinets on top of the sehlf and use them for same purpose he does. I eliminated the sit down chart table and installed a stand up chart table. I installed a double drawer cabinet in the foot space of the old chart table with a shelf on top. My loran and GPS are fixed in place at the rear of the chart table with storage for charts etc. behind. Cut holes in the ends of each side of the dining booth and installed teak drawers. Two door cabinets installed on port and stbd shelves in main cabin used for dry food storage and whatever. Capt Bob's idea of accessing the space under the quarter berth shelf will be looked at this spring. Good idea ! All teak drawers and doors are commercially available and ready to install. Jim H.

<div>Wine glass storage on a 1982 383Turn them upside down, wedge the bases between the soft ceiling material and the wood ceiling trim over the large port side window. They stick like glue, have never fallen and you can store a dozen with out touching each other. And from the outside looking in, wine glasses in the window just look inviting.
Let me know if you try it.
