noise from perkins 4-108 air intake

I think I have never noticed any particular noise from this source--just the roar of the engine itself. Could there be a problem with your intake itself?
 
Jeff. Is the devise you are speaking of the Walker Airsep? I believe that installing a airfilter which has a foam or paper filter will reduce this noise. The Perkins engines are also in service on construction equipment. I hope to find a cheaper source for the Walker Airsep or just find a tractor airfilter at an auto/truck parts supplier that will fit the marine engine. The walker Airsep claims to eliminate oil leaks from these engines also. Have you any experience with them?
