M38X Grouding Characteristics

<div>I have a deep keel Morgan 382 and have often wondered how the boat would fare in a grounding where the boat would eventually lay over and rest on its bilge. That is: does it flood, can the flooding be controlled or does it lay over and right safely? When I first bought the boat 12 years ago I asked the company for this infomation but apparently no one knew the answer. I do know from a bad personal experience being hauled on a conventional railway in Panama that the boat pitches forward if not fully supported under the bow. Does anybody have experience with lying abilge or knowledge of the design characteristics affecting this. My interest was piqued again in May when a large unannounced tug and tow forced us out of the ditch and aground in the Rock Pile section near Myrtle Beach. We were able to get off with no damage, by using the tug's wake (he passed within a few feet of us) but the fact remained that these ledges are exposed at low tide and we would have been clearly on our side had we not been able to get free.
