Leaky Sea Berth

<div>The wood lining the hull side of the sea berth in my 384 is
wet. Also water is getting into the locker under the sea
berth. This happens to be directly under the hawse pipe/cleat.Has anyone had a leak in this area or around the hawse pipe? How can the vinyl headliner be removed and reinstalled to
inspect the hull/deck joint? Do the buttons have screws under
them? Thanks,John Noble

I have not yet had any leaks on the hull deck joint, although it sure looks as if water could leak through that midship cleat. Could you please post the results of your investigation when you are through? Thanks.

Some, if not all 38's, did not make the anchor locker bulkhead watertight into the berth area. It is difficult to do, but I believe all owners should inspect and bond/seal this joint. Mine as not leaked since I made the repair.
The hardest area is the hull to bulkhead joint high, near the deck. That area requires much effort to seal completely.
