I was trying to run a new bilge hose thru the engine room when i saw a white 30 year old coil hose , I thought it was my old bilge hose passing thru the stren bulkhead of the engine room. ! I was WRONG
It was my Starborard scupper hose and I cut it in half !!! ! Ive tried to patch it as it pours rain every day in summer in Florida !
Does anyone know if i remove the overhead in the pilot berth will i gain access to the starboard deck scupper ??? I need to replace that old hose no pattching will do ! Stupid Stupid Stupid !

Hi Lee, Here is a pic from when i removed the quarter berth overhead. Looks to be easily accessible. Removing the headliner was fairly easy as I recall. I don't know if there is another drain accessible from mid ship pilot berth in main cabin.

While you have to Q-berth overhead down, you might want to give a good look at the scupper deck fitting and the 90 degree angle fitting. Mine were slightly leaking when I inspected them and needed to be rebedded. Also, when replacing the overhead, I found it easier to split the piece in two fore and aft. Now when I need to get to the outboard area where all the plumbing and wiring is, Only a narrow piece of overhead needs to be removed.

Don’t know for sure about reaching the scupper (but would guess so) but I do know there is lots of open space up there. We have a pull down opening we use to store rolled charts. So if you make a hole you can convert the unused space to good use while you are at it.

Dave
Your absolutely right about the open space up above the quarter berth overhead. We cut a 6" x 6" opening and store about 12 rolls of paper towels up there. There are many areas on our Morgans that can be opened up for storage. David Brinkley, who is a Navel Architect, came on board "Dana" one time and showed us a bunch of great places to add storage.

On the port side, I have a water maker under the combing. On the starboard, I have a drop down drawer that serves as a chart locker. While Morgan built in lots of storage space, the area, under the combings is large and useful.
