Holding tank float wires

<div>The 2 wires coming out of the small riser pipe in my bilge (which I assume is connected to the float in my holding tank ) have broken off slightly down in the riser. I don't have the any idea how to connect them back for the wires are not accessible out the top of the riser.
Has anyone had a similar problem ? If so how did you fix it ?any suggestions would be appreciated.Bill

I always START my research by calling Morgan at 813 544-6681. They always are helpful. Remember, I said START.
Good luck,

You assume that the two wires you speak of are connected to a holding tank float. is the float connected to a guage? And if so did the guage stop working? And if not then why do you want to reconnect the wires if the guage is non-existent? Look aroung the pipe that is exiting the tank and see if you are in any way able to get to the float. If a float was installed then their should be a way to get to it. Maybe you should install a new holding tank. Anyway if you can get the float out, handle it gingerly and with rubber gloves. Who knows what the last person to use the head ate.

These float wires slipped down and broke a number of years ago on my boat. Morgon had used a 2" plastic plumbing plug with a hole drilled in that the wires run through to the float switch, which is switch in a piece of tygon tubing pluged at both ends(the wire runs in one end. When the tank nears full the tygon floats activates the switch and the 3/4 full light in the head lightes. I added a stack pipe to this using a large socket wrench to remove the Morgon nut and putting the pipe. If this is not done bildge water goes in the holding tank and it will also add a smell to your bildge. If you are a northern boat and it is stored with a full holding tank it can do damage. Happy Sailing.

The wires are connected to a mercury float switch that is sealed with silcone or 5200 and I don't know if you can dig them out. You have to take of the pvc nut tor remove the float switch. Mke sure you empty the bilge first and pour some disinfectant in your holding take a few days before you take the fitting off. (empty the holding tank of course.) My switch failed and I had to buile a new one. It is quite simple once you see what morgan fabricated. Just some tubing a murcury switch and a can of foam for a float. Its a bear to get the ge silicon in the plastic tubing to seal the switch but it works.
