I am getting ready to install a new radio and would like to hear
what type of grounding systems people have used on their Morgans
and what type of results were achieved. (I am using an insulated
backstay for antenna)
Since my system is slightly different, I'll explain it.
I also use a insulated back stay. For the ground plane I used cooper strap 3" wide.
I ran it from the ICOM 710 to the tunerand also to the engine block.
I also ran the strap from the tuner to the engine block.
Much like a big triangle. My results have been good and compare well with others in the same anchorage.
Several have stated they used the large ground plate for the ground plane on the SSB but no one has stated how large? I want to do the installation and am torn between the 18 X 6 X 1/2 = to 100 square feet or go the whole hog of the 24 X 8 x 1/2 = to 200 square feet. Anybody know?
