companionway doors

since jim dalton won't sell me his doors without buying the whole boat, does anyone else have a lead on replacing the boards with a nice set of doors to the companionway? sorry, jim. any guidance, any drawbacks to the doors vs the three boards?

I love having the doors rather than drop boards, and they are removable, too. I have a drop board in front of the gauges, etc., that I think was made by the original owner.

IMG_0007.JPG IMG_0384.JPG I built these companionway doors with Lexan and teak. I like the ability to see what's going on in the cockpit while sleeping in the Salon.

they say 'imitation is the greatest for of flattery' nice job. i know what i will do on 'galileo.' thanks for posting the pictures. how does the latch on the top of each door function?

The latch works to fix the companionway door to the sliding hatch and the door are removable via lift pins. Grab bars across the aft edge and sides of the dodger. Night lights on each side of the instruments. Additional pics are on the Maluhia album. I must say there is a wealth of information if you search all past posts. It may take a little time, but it's worth your effort.
