I am looking for a Bosun chair. Are there any recommendations? What should I look for. I have not been able to find any info on this subject when doing a search. Thanks Rick

If you want the best ($$$) Google Brain (byron?) Toss. He's a Seattle master rigger. He sold a mountaineering one modded for boat use.

I have used traditional bosuns chairs but I much prefer a climbing harness. I used to use an inexpensive harness from REI - it is more comfortable and more secure. I few years ago, I purchased a Spinlock Mastpro harness - lightweight, adjustable, comfortable, able to wear it and move around on deck. More importantly you are more mobile when suspended from a halyard and can safely lean out, back, and almost hang upside down. The attachment point of the halyard is at the waist rather than higher up on a traditional chair so you can get higher on the masthead. There are loops for tying off messenger lines and gear/tool bags. I prefer not to carry a lot of things aloft in open pouches used on many bosuns chairs - too easy to drop.

Thanks for replying, I am use to wearing a harness at work so the transition would be easy. I can see how it would be less cumbersome. Dave I will have to take a look at the one Brian sells but some tells me it's going to be out of my price range. Thanks
