Bleeding coolant on 4.108

Hi there!

As part of regular maintenance I am flushing cooling system a few times before filling it with the antifreeze/water mix. The owner manual says that there are 3 bleed points to use when refilling the coolant (instruction is for 4.108 with coolant tank forward - see picture below), however I cannot find them on my engine (Perkins 4.108 + Bowman heat exchanger / exhaust manifold).

Has anybody had any luck finding bleed screes for fresh water system? How to best locate them?

And in general, do you need to bleed coolant on 4.108 + Bowman (I saw mixed opinions on the internet, some saying this combination is "self-bleeding").

Thank you!

I don't know about your points 1 and 2, which will be the corner head bleeds, but my 4-108 has a bleed line on point 3 and that goes back to the top of the header tank.

You might check with the folks on the Perkins 4-108 Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/611483832301373/
My (now replaced)Perkins did not have a Bowman HE, just a little HE sitting at the back. But I was able to fill the coolant by pouring it in slowly with the engine off and letting it burp and then adding more as the engine idled with cap off. It takes some time, especially if your cooling water also goes to a water heater.
