My decks have been the target for lots of birds lately. A couple of years ago, I ran a nylon string from shroud to shroud in front of the mast about 3" higher than the spreaders. It worked to keep them from landing on the spreaders until it broke. They still landed on the masthead so my decks weren't poop free.
I was talking to a friend who is part time cruising. He keeps his boat on a mooring at Port St Lucie during the summers and has told me some Floridians told him to put mirrors on the top of the spreaders and masthead. They said it spooks the birds and they won't land. Anyone ever try this? Does it work. I'm afraid they may decide to peck at the mirrors like s parakeet.
