Bedding for the Vee berth

Gary

Member
We sleep in the Vee berth of my 384. We use standard queen "fitted" sheets and know there must be a better way. Any suggestions or advise to make sleeping more comfortable?

There is a place in Essex, CT that does custom bedding. We are having a mattress pad made for the V-Bunk this winter. The name is: Boatique USA, 9A Novelty Lane, Essex, CT 06426. Their phone is: 860-767-8765. Email is: BoatiqueUSA@aol.com. They are a bit pricey but their work is very good.

We also use a product that I think is called Dry-Bunk that is a 1/2" thick plastic mesh that allow air to circulate under the cushions. It helps keep things dry and prevents mold

Or this...we bought a Travasak system years ago for our motor home ...They are gone now. We could easily wash the removable sheets from inside. It works for us because the fitted V shape (that we still have but don’t use) for the V birth is terrible.
No freedom to move your feet around. This lets you sleep anywhere...even at home when you want to add something to the boat and things aren’t going as you had hoped!
Ours are all cotton with down one side for summer one for winter.

We used two light weight mummy bags. Or one when I'm alone. When not zipped up they form a Vee. We used a queen fitted on the bottom with the extra tucked in. And no top sheet. Each person has their own top, so no fighting over blankets. We have medium weight for cold. Wash as needed. While it does remind me too much of camping, it is very functional. Another trade-off .

There are instructions for sewing sheets on the web if you have a sewing machine.

I went and replaced that 30 year old 5 inch foam with memory foam and now i sink right in and 10 min im asleep !

We sleep on the port side with the aft back cushion the one thats plywood backed. It fits next to the table and makes a good space.
