382 Mainsheet Tackle

I am looking at a well-used 382, but one of the things missing is the mainsheet block and tackle. Can someone tell me what ratio tackle the 1979's came with so I can look at finding a replacement?
The track is still there in the cockpit, just no block and tackle.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Bruce, and welcome aboard! I don't know if you noticed but you landed here the very week we are all evaluating this new system. So it might be that the 382 owners haven't noticed your question.

Any 382 owners around?!

i have a 384 which has totally different main sheet tackle. If I squint at Alan Shedd's Paragon picture it looks to me that it might be 4:1.

See here:

Also in case you haven't noticed, M38 owners Love their boats!
Cheers
Mark

Bruce, check out the recent "Pedestal Guard and Mainsheet Traveler" thread for additional images of M382 mainsheet systems.

I'm revealing my predisposition towards this new website now, as I only posted this here and not on the current Morgan 38 Owners Board.

Bruce - My original 1979 mainsheet tackle was a 7:1 tackle. The upper block was a classic Harken triple with becket, 76mm. The bottom block had a Harken classic triple (76mm) on top of a rotating ratchet block with a cam cleat. About a year ago, I replaced it with a Ronstan RF72700 two-speed mainsheet system with double cam cleats, which allows for a quick trimming (grabbing both ends of the mainsheet, or fine tuning (grabbing either end). I prefer it over the original set-up, but mostly b/c it's newer and cleaner.

Matt, I can't argue with facts like those. I'm just documenting what Arrrgh-O currently has. Needs maintenance or upgrading.

Thanks!

Thank you everyone for the great replies. However, I am no longer looking at the 382. It just needed too much work/repairs for what the owner seems to think the boat is worth. But good news, I just put an offer on a much, much nicer 383. Only 19,000 pending survey for a 1982. I am sure the survey will go much smoother, but will keep my fingers crossed!
Thanks again.
