I am seriously considering the purchase of a 1982 Morgan 38 as my first sail boat. I have sailed Catalina's ,Ericsons,O'Days and an old Morgan in Southern California about 12 years ago and plan on taking refresher courses. Would you recommend this boat for Coastal Crusing in the Carolinas?
I am interested in the pro's and con's?

Sure would, all pro's I think. There's always things to look out for, but I don't think you could buy a better boat for the money. My wife & I sail a 83'M384 and love it.

<div>Ron,I have been cruising a 382 out of Washington NC for the last 2 years. Absolutely yes it is a great boat for the Carolinas. The draft is a little more than I would like but 5'4'' hasn't been a real problem. Give me a call if you would like to crawl around in mine and get a better idea about the 382s before you purchase.Vic Copelan

<div>Ron,
I sail a 1978 Morgan 382 currently out of Oriental but have also been in Edenton. The 5' draft on occasion has been a minor problem but with the Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds having a reputation for being very hairy at times, you'll appreciate the comfort of the Morgan.Good Luck.
