Yanmar exhaust manifold

Happy spring to all on the M38 board. I have a 382 hull #33 with a 3QM30 Yanmar. Having read coments about a cracked exhaust manifold from Dick Kilroy, Vic Copelan, Bill Buebel and others, it seems a new one is the way to go. Does anyone know of availibility? Sounds to me like it is going to be expensive. Thanks in advance.
 
I had a new one installed late last fall for my 3QM30. Hull #95. The mainifold was about $800.00 plus yard labor. Availability was not an issue.
 
Geoff: I asked Mac Boring last fall what the price and availabilty on the manifold was. They said 5 had just come into the country and the price then was $591.00 I took mine off "Vixen" last week and it is currently at an engine repair shop being cleaned out, so I think you can go either way but in either case you should clean out the heat exchanger as well. I was at Mack Boring yesterday getting new gaskets for my manifold. They said the orice was down last fall but is back up again to $ 719.00. They say it's the exchange rate.

Dick: Sorry it took so long to get back. I have been going back and forth with my marina on model num. and part num. I mentioned your comment about Mack Boring out of Chicago as a source. Today the marina said that it could take anywhere from 2wks to 2mons. They gave me part #721370-13500 and said if I could track one down it might be faster. Would you have a tele. num. for Mack Boring. I apprieciate your help, and thanks in advance again.

Try Mack Boring in Union, New Jersey, which is their main location, at 908 964-0700.

Geoff: You can get Mack Boring at1 800 622 5364 then choose the location nearest you. All they need to know is it's a salt water cooled manifold for the 3QM30 that has factory fresh water cooling, at Middleboro, Ma. that information gave me the #'s I posted before. Good luck.

Success! I called Mack Boring in Union, N.J. and they have a line on 2 exh. man. Thanks for the help. Do you think the marina will recpricate financially to the M38 board for doing the leg work? OH, well never mind.
 
Just replaced the exhaust manifold on my Yanmar 3QM30. Preventive maintenance only. I bought Aldebaran new in 1980. No evidence of leakage. The boat is in the water each year from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
