Wrapping my exhaust?

Hello all,

I'm refitting my Westerbeke 4-107. The exhaust desperately needs to be re-wrapped as it's overheating through the old wrapping.

What have ya'll used for yours? Everything I find is for cars, not sailboats, so any tips about the process/tricks-of-the-trade are greatly appreciated.

My M 383 / Perkins 4-108 had no exposed exhaust pipe. It was exh. hose right from the water cooled exh. manifold. But my old Northstar 38 had 10' of pipe. I wrapped it in auto header tape. I used SS safety wire every 6" or so & used twist pliers to keep it on. As long as the tape doesn't get wet the pipe won't rust badly. The old Northstar had an OE asbestos tape that I don't think you can find anymore. Maybe an industrial/steam fitting supply has something better... but I couldn't find anything locally. Went with DEI header tape.
