<div>I have a 1978 Morgan 382. I have a leak around the Stand Pipe of
the rudder. I can see water leaking up around Stand Pipe. Does
the stand pipe go completely through the skeg? Must I remove
Stand Pipe to fix this leak. Or should I really worry, It may
leak a couple of gallons a week. I do not believe it's packing
or bearings because I have little or no play in my rudder. Thanks Bill

You need to replace the rudderpost packing. First, though,
try tightening the securing nut but I doubt it solve the problem. It's not a big job, but it's difficult to get at.
