OIL FILTER

Andy Kopac
<div>A company, here in Gulfport, MS, manufactures an after-market
oil filter/purifier that filters down to one micron. Your
typical screw on type filters particles only to 15 microns. Our
local newspaper did a feature article on this company and its
product and wrote that the company put a prototype on a semi
diesel truck back in 1990. The engine has been disassembled
twice with no wear reported. The company plans to inspect the
engine again at the 1 million mile mark-- one million miles with
no overhaul. I think I'm going to put one of these on my
Perkins and for $150 - $200 it might be a good investment. I
have scanned the article and put it on disk, but I don't know
how to upload it to the bulletin board. If anyone is interested
I can e-mail the article or they can instruct me how to upload
it to this site.Eric

Your oil filter sounds very interesting. Please e-Mail a copy of the article to me. Lenny Reich would probably be the best person to contact for uploading something onto the board. Jim

Once I mistakenly substituted a diesel fuel filter for an oil filter on my Perkins. It didn't cost me anything extra, except low oil pressure due to the filter clogging prematurely. I don't remember the micron size, but it was significantly smaller than for an oil filter.

I would be interested in the article. My diesel is getting close to overhaul. My cousin is a diesel mechanic and will be taking a look in the spring. Please e-mail
