NFM Port MS Length

doc

Donald O. Cox, Ph.D., P.E.
Next week I hope to start installing the NFM ports in my main
cabin and forepeak of my 384. I need to order the mach screws
and would like to verify what length to order. Maybe one of you
that have already installed your ports can remember the length
or at least the cabin wall thickness. Thanks!

When I replaced my port on my M384 hull #9 I found that the cabin sides varied from 3/8" to a good strong 1" of solid fiberglass. A very strong cabin I'd say.

I used 1" for the three main salon ports. The other two, v-berth and head used custom length screws that I personally cut and re-threaded with a die. I used a lot of cheaper steel screws of varying lengths from ACE hardware for the trial fitting anf SS for the finished install.
