<div>The traveler car on my main sail track is broken. I have tried
to identify the original manufacturer but have been unable to do
so. The stops on the track say FICO but the car and track have
no identification. Is FICO still in business? Has somebody
bought them? Are they part of Nicro Marine? The track is a mid-boom/cabin top setup found on the Morgan 383
and 384 as standard issue. The track measures 1-3/8" x 1-3/8",
the car has four stainless steel wheels that are angled at
approximately 45 degs. The track looks like something I have seen on numerous other
boats but I can't find it in any of the catalogs in which I have
looked. (i.e. West Marine, Boat U/S, Defender) I recently
received the Schaefer and Ronstan Catalogs, no luck in either of
these.Does any one have any suggestions for me other than replacing
the Traveler System in total.Thanks.RJ

Rich,
To be sure, call Morgan Yachts 813 544-6681. If you tell them your hull # they will tell you what they used for your boat. Why guess?
Good Luck,

Try Kevin at Marine Exchange Corp. 1(800) 888-8699. If he doesn't have the part or know where you can get it, he will know what you need to make your gizzmo work. He is the most knowledgeable man I have met as far as rigging goes.
Tell him Capt. Bob Engel owner of Evening Star a Morgan 38 sent you. I have spent thousands with him as I was reworking my Morgan and he was always right.
Luck

I have been thinking of replacing the traveller on my M384 but have not been sure how to remove the old track from the teak bridge. Which manufacture did you use? Any problems? How many part system did you use? Any help would be great!

I do not know how to detach the traveler from the teak. My boat is a 383 and I just have the metal traveler support. I had the yard due the installation since I live an hour and a half away and need to work to pay for life. I went with Harken because they are well known for their traveler systems. I bought the high bar track which will spaned an area because the stainless steel base did not seem subtanial. In addition it needs to be bent in an arc which harken will do (for a price). The other item is the ends need to be cut at an angle to fit in the metal base of the bridge support for the traveler. The big problem is that the bolts in the high bar track are internal and need to be slid to the proper place and held up while the track is then slid into the bridge support. The yard said this was very difficult (extra money) and they had to remove the traveler support from the cabin top so they could turn is side ways and probably upside down. The difference in travelers from the old to the harken is increbible. I probably will replace my mainsheet blocks to reduce friction on them. I can trim the main with the traveler when I can't trim the main with the mainsheet and the winch without using the crank. Before if I wanted to move the traveler when beating I had to lie on the cabin top, put my feet on the hand rails, my shoulder on the mainsheet block and attachment to the travler and push as if it were a football tackeling dummy. You can look at Harkens on line sight or look at there traveler kits in one of the cataloges. If you need more info let me know.

Thanks for the input! It sounds like the replacement is well worth it!
