The Little Creek Regatta for the American Cancer Society this
year will be on August 5. This Regatta is a sailboat race, a
power boat event and a windsurfing race. Our goal is to raise
money for the American Cancer Society. It is the only Regatta
for this cause in the U.S.A.
We are asked to get sponsors in the form of donations to the
American Cancer Society. Last year the event raised over
$79,000 for cancer research. This year we hope to top that
figure as the Regatta expands.
Again this year, I am asking my friends and even those who don't
like me, for a contribution of $5.00. For every five dollar
donation your name will be entered in a 50//50 raffle to be held
at the post race party. You can send more if you want to. Last
year Evening Star had some bad luck. We would have finished
third if the captain had not started five minutes late. We did
finish sixth. The more money Evening Star raises, the better it
sails.
If you know anyone who has cancer or who has died from cancer
and you wish us to fly a flag in there honor on race day, you
can donate $20.00 or more and I will get a flag in their honor.
We have to have the flag money in our hands by July 1 so that we
will have time to order the flag. I will fly the flag on race
day and send it to you after the race.
If you are intrested, make a check to the American Cancer
Society and send it to Bob and Debby Engel (yes, we were married
on April Fools Day) 2118 Mystic Cove Dr., Va. Beach, VA 23455.
