Life is Good

Bonnie and I are sitting at anchor in Oyster Bay, NY on one of the most beautiful evenings so far this summer. Larry and Deanna Hume on board their 382 "Southerly" are anchored near by. Bonnie has her glass of wine and I'm sipping a rum thing. It doesn't get any better than this. We wish all of you a wonderful season and hope that someday you can all visit this magnificent anchorage. Life is good.

I agree Oyster Bay is wonderful. I had my Pearson 26 moored there back in the late 70's. Is the old America's Cup Yacht still at the Sewanhaka Yacht Club?

Nice day everyone

Sorry to say that the Americas Cup 12 meter is no longer moored there but last night the schooner "America", from San Diego, was tied up there. Quite impressive. You have moved from Oyster Bay to Rock Hall, that is a fair exchange. We rate the Horse Farm on Magothy Bay just as good as Oyster Bay. Happy 4th to all.

Jim, on your way south next time recommend La Trappe Creek off the Choptank. Inside the sand spit on your left as you enter. Other nice places Reed Creek (a little tricky to enter) and Cataway Island langford creek, both off the Chester River. Also Wye river off the Miles.

Hi Bert
Good to hear from you again. Bonnie and I are heading South again this fall. I'm putting your recommendations in our wish book. Is it true you sold the boat? How is you crew Art?

Jim

Jim, haven't seen Art in a number of years. Yes I sold boat. To difficult to get crew, to old to sail by self. Give me a holler when you are in the area.I will come and visit, help get provisions if needed. I live 8 miles from Delaware City, also close to Chesapeake City and northern Bay.

Bert
We will be heading your way sometime in the last two weeks of September. Chesapeake City is a favorite spot. We'll give you a call from there.

Life IS good, Jim!
Janice & I are anchored at Stave Island in the Canadian side of the 1000 Islands. Been out for a week so far. We'll clear customs in Clayton, NY, and go to the antique wooden boat show this weekend.
Then hang out for another couple weeks in the "sweetwater". You "salties" might like it up here. No rinsing after a swim.

We have a Stave Island too on Lake Champlain

I like that, sweetwater. We were once in Tobermory, on the Bruce peninsula in Canada. Talking to an old salt on his sailboat, he said "you know what's the best thing about sailing up here?". And with that he dipped his cup over the side and drank from the lake. Cool!
Bonnie and I are anchored in a place called Duck Island Roads in Westbrook, CT. We are on our way to Block Island, RI. Even though there was no wind and we motored for 8 hours, it's still a beautiful trip. Life is good!

Hey Jim...did you ever see Wild Oats down there? The original owners had her there for 26 years
