Leaking fuel tank

<div>I have a 1978 M-382 and during my vacation in June I noticed
diesel fuel being pumped from the bilge. Although I cannot find
the direct source of the leak it appears to be somewhere on the
top of the molded in fiberglass fuel tank. The fill hose does
not seem to be the problem and there is not a problem if the tank
is only half to three quarters full.Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they
did to correct it.

<div>You might want to closely inspect the gasket between the metal plate used for the connections of the fuel fill and fuel pickup at the top of the tank. This may be the source of your leak. If so you will probably have to remove the plate from the top of the fuel tank and install a new gasket. This has not been a problem on my 383 but I am aware of a 384 were this procedure was undertake to stop a leaking gasket.
