Fuel Tank, Original gauge

I may have asked this before, but . . . I have installed a Tank Tender as a fuel gauge. If I remove the screws from the old (inaccurate) gauge, can I remove the mechanism inside the tank for the old gauge? Is it some kind of hinged mechanism? Thanks.

The original fuel gauge is a Tempo type mechanical device. A few screws and the whole thing comes out. It is basically a cork on a hinge that floats on the surface.

I would like to see any details you can share about your Tank Tender system. How do you get the sensing tubes to the tank bottoms?
I want to do my water tanks at least but fuel would be good to have on the same system.

First, I don't use the Tank Tender for water. I have two tanks under the settees. I just open the inspection plates and look in. The tube was easy to insert in the steel fuel tank top. You drill and tap a small hole and screw in the small metal piece that accepts the tiny tube. You then push the tube in slowly until you feel it stop at the bottom. The folks in Gig Harbor will send you easy instructions. I am thinking about installing another tube for the holding tank. I have delayed because my bilge is very deep. I have a 6' draft Morgan, so my bilge floor is hard to get to.
