Fuel Filter

<div>I've had my 383 for ten months now and just found out that there is a fuel/water seperater under the sink. Is this web site great or what?!! Thanks to Jack Perlette for informing me that the fuel system has to be bled after changing the engine mounted filter. I have a Perkins 4108 as opposed to his Yanmar, but I assume a fuel system is a fuel system. I lack a service manual for the Perkins so can someone enlighten me on how to bleed the fuel line after a new engine mounted filter is installed? Has anyone ordered a Perkins service manual from Foley Engine? Is it a factory manual or just a copy? For $85 it should be printed on fine linen and bound in leather! One more request about Foley engine. Has anyone ordered a Walker Airsep System from Foley and does it live up to its $450 billing? Thanks.Eric

I've owned my boat for two years and finally understand why there is a fuel line loop, with no apparent function, just hanging under the galley sink. There is, however, a nice Racor 500 fuel filter/water separator in the engine room.
I've never heard of Foley Engine before, but if you're interested in manuals for your 4-108, they're also available from the factory. Check out their web site at WWW.PERKINS-SABRE.COM
Also, one of Perkins US Reps is very familiar with the engine and will answer whatever questions you may have. His name is Kirk Swanson and he can be reached at CaptKWS@Prodigy.Net
