BULKHEAD BONDING

roaring40

<div>I recently inspected for purchase a very nice 382 (1978 I think)
and found that some major bulkheads were not bonded to the hull.
An exception was the aft bulkhead in the head, which I understand
was bonded sometime after the boat was built.I find this suprising, given the reputation that the 38X has for
strength. Could these bulkheads be bonded and if so how hard?Any insights here would be appreciated. Pete

I believe with closer inspection you will find the bulkheads are in fact, bonded to the hull. They are not bonded to the deck and that is fine.

Also depends on how you define "major bulkheads, I think." Some of the pieces of cabinetry are not bonded, I think, but the main bulkheads are where they have to be. chain locker, head and one or two of the hanging lockers, one or more of the aft bulkheads, plus the attachment points of the chain plates.
