Aft Shower hose access

Christopher Cournoyer
Have 38' Cat-Morgan CC 1992 hull #1; problem.
Aft shower has pump to discharge water...doesn't drain. Does the
drain in the head and shower room have connection that will
allow both of them to drain at same time, or are they seperate?
Unable to see across engine, or with mirrors, these hoses at
all.Appears engine installed after hoses installed! Has anyone
had this problem and if so, how corrected? Access to the hoses
for the aft head/shower??? Any thoughts? Appreciate any replies
or ideas you may have. Thanks, Terry Quinn

Hey Terry- I have hull #22. As far as I can tell the head floor drain goes straight to the bilge. The aft shower drain of course goes to the shower sump pump located under the galley sink counter then back down to, I think, the starboard cockpit drains. I'd have to look again to be sure.

John,
If the head floor drain goes straight to the bilge,(why not) any reason for the shower drain to be pumped out via throughhole? Any thoughts as to both of these drains going to the bilge? We're day sailors for the best part, and will not spend many overnights in a row, thus not being worried about the shower water in the bilge, which has it's own pump. Any thoughts or caveats? Request the pleasure of your response....tks for the help, Terry Quinn

Hi Terry,
In general it is not a good idea to drain showers and refrigerators into the bilge. The soap, oils and hair from a shower will smell and possibly plug your bilge pump (and weep holes) which is not made to pump hair like your shower sump pump. I am not clear what is the problem with your shower sump. The hose from the shower drain runs directly into the engine room on the starboard side and then up to the pump located behind the silverware drawer along side your freshwater pressure pump and then back down to where it tee's into the starboard cockpit scupper drain. Maybe let me know what is not working so I can check it on mine and see if we can get it to work right.
FTW
John
