<div>I have autohelm 4000 and want windvane for off shore. Most windvanes are ugly and eliminate the use of davits. The sailomat looks cleaner and is easily removable.what are your experiences with windvanes and autohelm 4000?

I am on a 382#46. I have Autohelm 4000 also. I use it a lot in the chesapeake and it's ok. Sometimes it has a mind of it's own, but nothing I can't deal with single-handing.
I am going to be putting a Aries windvane on. They don't make them anymore, but there's a plentiful supply of parts from the origin still. I'll use it primary when offshore next spring and use the Autohelm only as a back-up. Obvious reason is economy of electricity. I've also heard pro's and cons about the 4000. Some say that they break too often, others have used in the config I will and had no problems as long as you use it in fair seas.

I'm curious to know if anyone out there has used an Aries.
Additionally, I've read that they're back in production from the Dutch company that bought them when they sold. I've heard great things and many many miles about them and they're definitely cheaper than the Monitor. Comments?
