Where to buy a shut off cable for a Perkins 4108?

I have to replace the shut off cable on my 1982 383 with a Perkins 4108. The local dealer for Perkins told me that this must be an after market part since the factory part is only 30 cm long. My cable is about 8 feet long. Has anyone had to replace one of these and where did you find one?

Coy, the 4-108 has a really Mickey Mouse terminal fitting that attaches to the IP to move it fore/aft to open or close the fuel shutoff for the IP. As you have probably already experienced it is not easy to reach if you have the Bowman (sp) heat exchanger/exhaust manifold. I'd recommend taking yours completely out and getting a tape measure on it to get the exact length. I did a quick search on Teleflex Morse control cables and got this as the shortest I could find at 6' and the fitting on the end that connects to the pot metal is what might need some modification? Not sure.... hopefully a 6' length would work: https://dieselpro.com/marine-diesel...et-marine-control-cable-3-16-inch-thread.html

Recently bought a cable from West Marine. Mine is 9' Teleflex owns all the manufacturer's now, I believe. Mine was build by SeastarSolutions.

Thanks for the info. I bought it but the end of the cable didn't fit the injector pump. We will see if we can make some modifications to get it to work.

what mine looks like is the sheathing at the end of the cable at the IP is sawed off and the Perkins terminal fitting is threaded on at that point. I'll see if I can find a photo tomorrow as I won't be back at the boat for a few days yet.

I apologize. My West Marine cable was for the throttle. I think I sent you in the wrong direction. My shut off cable is wrapped in metal, doesn't look like a throttle cable. Sorry. Really apologize

No problem. We have it at the yard for some bottom work. I just added it to their list.
