U-style exhaust mixer vs. mostly straight

Hello!

This is for 3QM30Y.

I have a crack in the exhaust mixer/elbow and looking to replace it. It appears there are two styles available: slightly bend one (pn 124070-13500) and U shaped elbow, like this one: https://hdimarine.net/product/gm-stainless-steel-mixing-elbow/.

Both appear to be compatible with 3QM30, I currently have pn 124070-13500 and looks like it is not easily available while the U shaped is available. I am trying to understand whether it is OK to replace my 124070-13500 with the U shaped elbow. Are they truly interchangeable?

I've used the U shape for 30 years before stainless was available.
Don't use a 90 deg fitting for the water injection. They will clog.
I also use high temp silicone exhaust hose with hose clamps with rounded edges for soft hose.

Jim recommended ExhaustElbows.com to me a couple of years ago. Probably has the one you need in stock.
I had one made for my Perkins. Excellent craftsmanship and great service! Oh and reasonably priced!!
