I am contemplating removing the stanchion bases, in order to install proper backing plates. Should have done it 20 years ago. Having removed those easy to get to, near the companionway, I know Morgan stupidly put big gobs of tough caulking around each nut, making it very difficult to get a wrench on to remove the fasteners. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Thanks.
