Servicing Thru-hulls

Any recommendations on servicing thru-hulls? Is it necessary from time to time? Other than assuring the valve can be opened and closed is there anything that needs to be done to maintain them? Periodic Lubing? If necessary, is there a way to service thru-hulls while in the water?

depends on the type of seacock you have. Some, but not many, have a lube port. Most don't. Then you lube when hauled, although even in the water, if they are closed, you can put some lube down inside if you pop the hose.
