Selling Sjokolade - 1982 Morgan 383 - SOLD

Hi Rolf, sorry to hear this, but big changes can be exciting too. Good luck with the sale. What are u doing with your Hydrovane?
Cheers,
Mark

I will sell the Hyrovane separately unless it becomes an issue in the sale of the boat.

After much wavering back and forth, I've listed my boat for sale with a broker. It can be found on Yachtworld here: Sjokolade
Are you planning on getting another boat? If so ...what? If not...are you just done with sailing? We noticed you really never added much to your blog. Are you okay?

Can you post more details about the Hydrovane please? Just bought a 1982 383 and was considering adding a wind vane.

Im very sad your selling your boat ! Its a wonderful boat and your such a great Sailor ,Captain !

John (and Lee, and everyone)- Lots of things in the works for us, moving to Pensacola Florida, retirement. I'm not done sailing and am not working very hard to sell the boat, it just hasn't been something I've gotten to for over a year and half. So, rather than let it sit I've listed it for sale, however, this fall I hope to get it in the water and start using it again. I'm not a "motivated" seller, as they say, so . . . I know what its worth, and we'll see what happens. As we all say, one of the best boats and best values out there. As I get older, I try to keep in mind the fact that if our past is bigger than our future, then we are dying - My future is so full I'm having trouble fitting in the boat . . . darn it!

Exactly how I feel...more behind me now than in front...I cherish each day I have. Sailing has become my (our) therapy ...really love our boat ...my third boat...I loved it when we got it and love it even more now.

Boats are certainly funny things. They really do have a life all their own. You become very attached. I used to read about sailors completing very long trips and literally falling to their knees upon stepping off their vessel. They had to turn around and hang on to the thing that had cared for them so well at sea.

There is a moment when the Australian 16 year girl old steps off her boat after completing an around the world journey mostly nonstop. As she steps off onto the dock into her mother’s arms she almost falls and in then in tears turns back to her beloved vessel hanging on to it choosing it over her own mother! Not from weak legs, as many thought, she described it later it was from the literal feeling of the sheer loss of life and the feeling of not caring for what had cared for her during her journey.
We have that same feeling about our Wild Oats.

Turns out I had a lightening strike last fall while on the hard and it took out my electronics. It took awhile to sort out what was not working and get insurance to pony up but I've reduced the price to $45,000. Looking for offers before I end up buying electronics that a buyer doesn't want. In the water ready for test drive.
