Replacing diesel deck filling hose

Hey guys,

My diesel hose is weeping and therefore I was getting started on replacing it. As I removed the deck fitting I realized that the hose clamp won't come through the hole... Is the only way to replace that hose to take apart the galley..?

I'm really scratching my head as where to start as I can't even seem to find screws around the galley itself to take apart the shelving to get behind there.

Any help is appreciated,
Cheers,
Mike

Unfortunately, yes you do have to make an access cut or just remove the entire panel. I chose to make a small opening.

Taking out the cabinet is not that hard. It is lag screwed into the for and aft bulkheads. Take down the overhead above the stove, remove the stove and the fiddles, and it slides out. Good luck.

Be prepared to do some serious alligator wrestling to get the fuel hose down from the deck, through the space under the galley sink and into the settee locker where the hose connects to the tank. It's a doable job but not a happy job.

Thanks folks,

I went with Tim's recommendation. I like the idea of having an access port if ever I need to get back in there. I cut a square plastic piece to put over the hole and I secured it with 4 screws.

Cheers,

Mike

The reason for the problem is the hose that Morgan used was not a real fuel oil quality hose. Hoses were part of my business life. I also removed the whole over stove, glory whole section. Not that difficult a job once you figured out what to do. With good hose I wasn’t worried about doing the job agai.
