New owner announcement

After a long and interesting search, I am happy to announce that my wife and I have finally closed on what will be our second cruising sailboat, a 1980 Morgan 382. We are excited to get sailing, and are now just waiting for a weather window to deliver her from Lottsburg, VA up to our home port of Deale, MD on the western shore of the Chesapeake.

I've already met a few of you wonderful people on this site, but to any other Chesapeake Morgan owners out there, and/or anyone passing through, we'd love to meet you! We cruise the mid-Bay most weekends from May to October. And the five year plan is to gear up for a longer excursion...

Best,

Keefer and Liza Douglas

PS. Seller's listing is still up as of now if anyone is curious: http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/198...-States?refSource=browse listing#.WsPkWi4bNhE

Hull ID # is MRY22195M80B. Does that indicate hull #195? Seems about in the right range, but I don't know what sort of system they used...

Ours is #219 so not too far apart.
The original owner Marcus, had a custom barn built to store it every winter for 26 plus years. The next owner on Lake Champlain did a lot of nice comfort improvements without altering the basic original design. We are the third owner and are on Lake Champlain as well. Love the boat.

Good morning and we,come to the Morgan and the forum Paul.
Post ping some photos of the boat sailing would be nice here and good for your website. It’s a pretty boat!

Thanks--I have been on the forum before. I have a lot of photos but mainly of the guests enjoying themselves. Not many photos of her under sail other than those taken ON the boat. I take her out sometimes three times daily, but at least five or six times per week. I have seen two or three other 38's on West River and in and around Galesville but have not met the owners or seen the boats up close. Hello out there on the middle and upper Chesapeake! Please visit me at West River yacht harbor.

Hi Paul,
We often anchor in the Rhode, and sometimes in the West River too (if we're feeling like a dinghy ride in to Thursdays for some crabs rather than cooking aboard). Will let you know next time we're up that way. We have so, so many projects to complete and it is always good to compare notes with longer-time owners who have been down some or all of those roads before!

We have been in the Rhode River a few times for the Seven Seas Gams. Next time we're down there you'll have to show us where Thursday's is to get some of those crabs.

Hi Jim, Thursdays is pretty easy to find, built on a dock out over the West River in Galesville. There's a few decent anchorages nearby. Will be happy to meet you there :)
