Morgan 38 as a live aboard and cruiser

<div>I have been reading the bulletin board and the archives, both of
which have answered many of my questions. I would like to pose
two sort of "bottom line" questions:
1. How does the "new" Morgan 38 (under Catalina) rate as a live
aboard vessel?
2. How does the same rate as a cruiser/circumnavigator?I am interested in buying one to live on, and I would like to
someday circumnavigate. I have heard that the Out Island 41 is
ideal for this, but I really like the Morgan 38. However, I do
not want to be in the boat that I thought looked nice as I get
the hell kicked out of me in the open ocean because the thing was
never designed to be there.Honest opinions are appreciated, both good and bad. Please feel
free to email me if you don't wish to voice publicly. Thanks for your advice.

<div>Travis,
I am not familiar with the Catalina/Morgan 38, but before we had our M-384, we had a Catalina 30. Based on this prior relationship with Catalina (we loved our Cat-30, and lived aboard for over a year while cruising the East Coast and Bahamas), I would not consider a Catalina a circumnavigator. Before the flames start - call Catalina and ask them for their opinion of the boat for your intended purposes. I suspect they would agree with me that a Catalina is just not a long range cruiser. Some small clues would be the open interior design and tankage. Should you have any specific questions, just e-mail me.Ed
