Greetings, fellow Morgan owners!
While I've read most of what's been contributed to the site, this is my first post after firming up the purchase of a 1979 382, Mischief, at the end of September 2022. The survey by Al Kesner came back pretty clean with no major concerns. I'm excited to get her home in the spring but I've got a few items to cross off the to-do list before sailing her back to Saint John, New Brunswick from near the NH and ME border. I did visit the boat following the survey where the previous owner and I executed the necessary paperwork, however, failed to take some measurements that would better help me prepare in the coming months. Being the supportive, knowledgeable gang that you are, I figured I'd ask a few questions here to save the 12 hr return road trip.
First questions are related to fuel vent caps - Any benefit to the flush mount style or is that strictly a cosmetic thing? From what I can find I believe the hose size is 5/8. I'd love a recommendation on quality replacement caps as mine are due. Reputable brands will take priority over less expensive newer producers with questionable 'stainless steel'.
Second question is related to hoses. What size would the marine rubber covered reinforced hose from seacock to strainer be be? I also need hoses for the head. Ribbed hose and rubber hose for waste discharge, and the hose to the water tank. Another note from the survey suggests replacing the valves for the waste system also. Any insight into the number and types of valves here?
I'm sure I'll have more ideas / questions for your valuable insights in the months to come.
Thanks in advance for any feedback you're willing to provide.
Sincerely,
Gavin
