Hello All,
Has anyone installed Mast Pulpits on there 384,3 or 2?
I would like to add them. It would be great to know a company that has made them for the 384 in the past
I would be super interested in this also. We are refitting for cruising and this is one of the last items on the list. Be super interested to learn how folks have done this.
I am going to take a look at this again and noodle out placement with a couple of buddies in a couple of weeks where I have the boat in storage in Port Washington. Hopefully we will get some feedback before that.
Before I left on my circumnavigation, I was considering this. But now having sailed without them, I wouldn't.
In big seas you can tether to the mast, and support yourself with the shrouds similar to a pulpit. So not really needed. But also, when running up to the foredeck, I tend to be on the cabintop, inside the shrouds. My jacklines cross in front of the mast, keeping my inside the shrouds and towards the center of the boat. Mast pulpits would interfere with this.
I added pin rails, which provides a sense of security at the mast. And like Warren, I have a dedicated tether at the mast. I post here an article I wrote about the pin rail project. I will mention that shortly after my piece ran in Ocean Navigator, the magazine closed down for good. I hope I did not contribute to its demise.
