Main Sheet length for 382 w/aft traveler

williwaw

Tom Kluberton
Can anybody hazard a guess at how long the main sheet is for a 382 with the aft-mounted traveler?

West Marine is offering line at 40% off and that's the last line on Williwaw we should consider replacing. Problem is we're in Alaska and she's in Pensacola.

Thanks for any educated guesses!

I measured 114', somewhere I had found a listing on line that says 110'. I am attempting to determine if its 1/2", I have a note in my file that indicates that. I do have a 382 with aft mount or just in front of the helm.

Just found this info :

I've been very happy with New England Ropes Sta-Set for the sheets and Sta-Set-X for the halyards. The lengths and sizes for each on my 382 are as follows:
Main Halyard 100' x 7/16
Jib Halyard 115' x 7/16
Spinnaker Halyard 105' x 3/8
Main Sheet 110' X 1/2
Jib Sheets 53' x 5/8 x 2
Spinnaker Sheets 77' x 7/16 x 2
I hope this helps you out. Let me know if you need more info.

Jim

Big Thanks to both of you!

It's about 105 miles to the Anchorage (the closest W-Marine) and I am making a supply run tomorrow.

Whew, it's not something to guess at, and it looks like a perfect time totime to shop-up a new Main Sheet.

Get the smallest lightest hi-tech line you can afford. Replace all bolocks that are not roller bearings. (flexible, free running lines make an incredible differnce). Look at APS, Mauri sailing. Friction is your enemy! It changes a square rigger to a high performance dinghy. IMHO.
