Hello, Allow me to introduce myself...

Hello,
I am Mitchell, my wife (Larissa) and I recently purchased Sonata, out of Sausalito. We are the third owners. I believe Sonata has spent her life in Sausalito Yacht Harbor until now.
We live in Northern California and will commute to the Bay as often as possible. Sonata is now in her new home at Brickyard Cove in Point Richmond.
I have sailed my entire life on smaller boats, mostly racing lakes, SF Bay and Santa Cruz and a couple coastal jaunts. This is my first boat all over again! What a big difference from my Moore 24!
Sonata will be a weekend retreat until I can begin doing some extended cruising in a few years.
I have a lot to learn and found this forum when considering my purchase of Sonata. I am grateful for such a wonderful resource and the posts and comments on here heavily influenced my decision to buy the Morgan 383. I have gleaned so much already from here. Thanks to all that post!

Fair winds,
Mitch

Welcome to our community...so much wealth of info and great people. I joined up almost 10 years ago. Some of these guys have been owners for 40 years! Good testament to the vessel.

Congratulations on your new boat. Welcome to the board. If you have questions, there will be someone, or someones, with answers. Any project you are planning on doing probably has been done before and you will get hands on info. There are a number of M38 owners in the SF area. I'm sure they will connect with you. Enjoy the boat.

Jim

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

Mitchell and Larissa,
Intersting connection to the Moore 24. One of the first owners on the bay back in '78 also had one. Back then they both rated PHRF 156.
Our boat is in Emery Cove until April 30th when we move her to our summer anchorage of more than 25 years on Steam Boat slough.
Stop by someday when your coming or going.
Cheers,
John and Sue

We lived in Birdslanding for a while and spent a lot of time on the sloughs.

Interesting!
Yes, as I was considering different boats in our (my) search, I referenced the PHRF ratings to get some idea of boat speed potential on the various possibilities. Mostly because I can't imagine settling for a boat any slower than my Moore 24. I have my standards! Anyway, I was impressed by the Morgan's number. I don't imagine she'll hop up on a plane like my Moore 24, but I know she'll surf.
I still have my Moore 24, "Ebony". She has been a big part of my life since I acquired her in 1981. I keep her on Whiskeytown Lake near our home. I'm not sure how this is going to work out, having two needy boats. 2x everything, slip fees, maintenance, etc., etc.

I am hoping to do some Delta cruising in the next few months in Sonata too. It would be fun to connect with you, either in the bay or delta someday!

Mitchell
