Handicap

My 1970 Morgan 38 has been given a 134 handicap by my racing club. I raced in NY at 154. I am now racing, (not seriously) in the Southern Chesapeake. My largest headsail is a 135. I have a three blade solid prop.
The handicapper said that he got 134 out of some book. I think he is looking in the wrong book. I know area effects the number but not by 20 seconds. Could you, out there, send me the handicaps for your original Morgans? I may be wrong but I think not.

<div>I sail a 382 in the Pamlico Sound area of NC - not too different from the area you sail. Our handicaper indicates the Charlie Morgan 38 would have a base rateing of 150. The 382,3,4 rates 134 (base). Hope this helps.Vic C.

Bob -- Sobstad Sailmakers has a web page that gives the addresses of regional PHRF fleets. Check those to see what ratings (if any) they have given you boat. Lenny
