Engine Control Cables

I cannot find anything in the archives on the length of M-38 engine cables. The best I can determine is that the throttle cable is around 7 1/2 feet. Clutch cable looks similar. Since one end is inside the Edson pedestal, it hard to be exact.. Anyone know the correct length for each one?

I don't know if this will help you at all. I replaced the shift cable for my Yanmar from the Orion pedestal with a Teleflex 33c 7' cable. I had also replaced the throttle cable at some point but I can't find any info on what I brought.

John, I replaced mine last fall. I bought Engine Control Cable - 33 Series - 8' for both
and they worked fine.

Thanks guys for your help. It is valuable since it confirms my measurements. After more careful checking, I come up with 7 ft. for the shift cable and 8 ft. for the throttle. Two 8 footers would also work.

10 ft. or longer 33c series cables are readily available. Shorter ones not so easy to find.
