I need some ideas for an emergency tiller on the origional Morgan Sloop. I have the rudder post behind the wheel and I want to be able to use a tiller if the wheel ever fails. Does anyone have any ideas? Contact me e-mail at CaptBobE@aol.com
If you are in a Morgan 382-4 yuocan make your own. I did many years ago. Standard alluminum tubing comes in an ID that will fit the rudder post OD Morgans( at least mine) had the holes in the post for their tiller. The wall on the tubing is 3/8 or 1/2 . Simply drill holes and use a smaller alluminum shaft for the tiller with hole in the tubing in the desired place. I did not drill hole in helmsman seat and use access plate as I hoped I wouldn't need and to date I have not.
