Bow Ladder - Info/Measurement Request

This thread is an addendum to my previous post regarding Mediterranean mooring and gangways/passerelle. In addition to a gangway installed on the stern, I'd also like to add a boarding option from the bow for those situations where we can moor bow-to. With our Monitor windvane, mooring bow-to is preferable to the traditional stern-to Med Mooring. I'd really like to have this figured out before I arrive in Gibraltar in early May, as the problem of getting on/off the boat begins the moment I put the boat back in the water. If I can sort it out now, I can order the ladder and have it waiting on my arrival.

There are a lot of bow ladder options available on the market, but I don't know which ones will work on the 382. Once again, I'm stymied by the distance between me and my boat and therefore cannot take any measurements myself. I found an inexpensive ladder that I hope will work. This ladder is designed to hook over the bow pulpit. From photos of my own boat, I know that I can lash some stainless steel rings to my pulpit to receive the ladder hooks. However, I have no idea if the dimensions of the ladder will work with the boat, ie: height of pulpit above the water, width of the pulpit opening, angle of bow, interference by anchor (we have a Mantus roll-bar anchor), etc. These measurements are from the 3 and 4 rung versions of the ladder. They make a 5 rung ladder, too.

Would somebody be willing to take a look at the attached photos of the product and take some measurements of their own boat to see if this ladder might work? If nothing else, how about the bow pulpit's top rail height above water and the width of the pulpit opening?

Are those numbers in your drawings related to the number of M&M candies laid end to end?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I get a kick out of their lack of understanding regarding the metric system. Check out the 26mm distance between ladder rungs - that's just over 1 inch. I'm sure they mean 26 centimetres. Why not use all cm or mm?

Ken, the top of my bow pulpit is 80" from the water. The bottom of the "v" in the pulpit, about where the lower life lines come in is 69" off the water. I have not sailed the Med, but expect most quays are nearly as high as the bow of the boat, so I would not expect you will be using a long ladder to get to shore. And hard to think about how to place a plank across from the bow, what with anchors, furlers and such in the way.

Thank you for the measurements, Terry. Here is an example of an anchor ladder on an Italian boat. I actually really like this design, and I considered having one made. However, the Morgan 38 bow and anchor roller are very different, and I don't think this design would work.
