Beautiful Morgan 384

James M. Cleary
This weekend, my wife, Bonnie, and I picked up a mooring with our 382 Dana in Port Washington, Manhasset Bay, Long Island NY. On the next mooring over was a Morgan 38. Of course we circled around to get a closer look at the boat. Now in my eye, our Dana is the nicest example of well found Morgan 38. To my envious surprise the boat we were looking at made ours look like a dull little sister. The name on the boat was "Misia", home-ported in Boston, MA. Her owner was not on board at the time but in the morning before we headed home we had the chance to speak to Yurek, her skipper. He lives aboard her and is heading North from a winter in the Bahamas. We couldn't talk long but we hope to hear more about Yurek's adventures and to learn more about this beautiful boat.

Hi Jim! Great to hear that, thanks.

I might be wrong (that's my Super Power!) but I think Yurek is a member of this forum and that Misia is hull #1 of the 384 series.

So Misia undisputedly *is* the "number one" 384! I think Dana might still be the number one 382!

We took (forum member) Topher & his partner Christy out on Zia Saturday and you came up in the conversation. Turns out we have both offered to let you & Bonnie come out west and take our boats out. To have a west coast Morgan 38 experience. Alpinisto is in Seattle, and Zia is in nearby Poulsbo, WA now.

We have really hit it off with Topher & Christy, and have taken them on as co-equal boat partners on Zia. Topher is planning on selling his sweet 382 named Alpinisto. He is also going to help me run/fix this forum. He has an IT security background and is smarter than your average bear.

I was thinking it would be very cool if we had a place where forum members could post a short/easy video tour of their Morgans. Nothing fancy, just walking around with their phones and pointing out things they have done, etc. Maybe Topher can help me set that up. I think we would all love to see a tour of Dana. And Misia, and others.

Hope you guys are enjoying your summer.
Cheers,
-Mark

Jim, thanks for compliments. Yes, we are 384 number one :). I think there are more Morgans better looking than Misia
I live on Misia full time, so I have time to take care of her, and I had the luxury to refurbish her on my backyard when I was working full time.

Your work shows on your beautiful boat. It is not easy to keep these old ladies all prim and proper. You have done well. You have to let us know where you have been and where you are going this summer.

Jim:
I will do some video and try to show what I did and what I like and what I don't like.
It may take a while, I'm busy now visiting my family.

How long are you staying at Port Washington? You know you can anchor there, the holding is great. Do you have a dinghy?

Jim

Jim, I will be In Port Washington just today and maybe tomorrow. I will be staying In Newport for while.
If you guys will go north, please let me know. We can meet around Newport or Block Island.
I have rollup dinghy.
As I said, I made shot walkthrough Video, but it is not to short, over 1 Giga and I can't download it.
Mark, What Is the max size for files we can download ?

Hi Yurek - I'm actually not sure what the size limit is. For a video, 1GB isn't unreasonably large and I need to do some digging when I get home. For sure, I want to have it set up so we can share videos on this forum. Might be a day or two, and please nag me if I haven't got it set up in that timeframe.

Warren - yes, I agree. I wasn't sure if everyone has a google/youtube account or not. Maybe we should just say that's the way it is, and to create a google/youtube account to share videos. That would certainly be easier from my perspective.
Yurek & Jim - can that work for you?

Yurek - If you put in a link to your tour, can you start a new thread called "Owners Sharing Tours of Their Boats", or something like that? We can try to get other folks (like Warren & Jim!) to share tours of their boats on that thread too. We will put one up of Zia.
Thanks!

I am all for doing walkthrough videos. Unfortunately I am older than I like to admit and not very computer savvy. If someone can walk me through the process (slowly), it may just work.

Jim - I'm happy to walk you thru recording video (on phone call) if you have an iPhone? I'm not very fluent on Android, and maybe someone else on the forum could do that if you have Android.

If you have a google (gmail) account, you are half way there.

Once your YouTube account is setup, you can use the YouTube app to record from your phone direct to YouTube as easy as using the camera.

It’s funny you guys are talking about video tours, I just shot and posted one for selling Alpinisto a week or two ago. I’ll look for the thread (or start one) and post it.
