Are you tired of using masking tape around the hand rails ?

This works Colorless Art Masking Fluid . From the art supply store ! Its water clean up soap and water . washes right off. Brush on rinse off . Its clear too.
Just paint around the deck let it dry and cetol or varnish as usual . Any drips will be protected from the deck ! When varnish is dry hose off and if you dripped a-lot a stiff brush and its Gone . No more making tape !

Good idea Lee.
This stuff must be like PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) mold release. It works the same way. It may be cheaper than the art supply store stuff. It might cause problems when used on wood or other porous surfaces, if you have to paint them later.

I get special order like 1/2 a quart from the art supply house its white drys white . I paint it around handrails espically under as im sloppy ! 5 or so coats of cetol natural and 2 gloss cetol ( Florida) I turn on the hose next day and its all gone !! Why tape in the hot sun when you can paint this stuff on the deck around the rails in half a hour ! Than IF there is no rain i'm all set !!

I use Semco teak sealer and it tends to wick under tape. Sounds like that won't happen with the masking film. I think the stuff called photo frisket film may be similar to colorless art masking fluid. The train and r/c modelers use it. They would paint it on and use a hobby knife to get a fine edge for stripes etc. You could peel off the dried film in the areas you intennded to spray. As I recall, it was too expensive for me when I used to paint models many years ago, haha.

20-30 bucks in the maintance budget as i get older is just the easy way out . And faster !
