Anchor locker and PVC pipe in lead locker

Hi all,

I'll try to keep this short. My anchor locker bulkhead had rot and I decided to redo the job. While I'm at it, I had the old style anchor locker shelves about 1 ft off the deck with two small copper drains on each side.
I decided to make use of the lower anchor locker and make a proper shelf down there with proper drains.
It rained a lot during these endeavours and a for a few days water was most likely coming in.
So I found a bit of water at the bottom of the locker that has the encapsulated lead, and when I went in there I saw this pvc pipe that runs under the lead. Could someone steer me in the right direction of what is that PVC pipe used for, and what drains through it ?
You can see attached pictures of the new anchor locker shelf I built and glassed, and the actual PVC pipe that I'm referring to.

If i remember correctly, the PVC pipe leads water to drain into the bilge. Someone may correct me, it has been a while since I was in that area of Sonata.
She didn't have lead ingots like a lot of other boats. I recently installed a Maxwell HRC 8 windlass which is mountedd on the floor of the upper anchor locker and feeds rode down to the lower void in our boat. The space you are dealing with.

This was inspred by Mark's (admin) installation. I am really pleased with the outcome. I used 65 feet of chain to 250 feet of 12 plait mega braid rope. It takes up a lot less space than 3 strand.

Hi Mitchell, it leads water to the bilge from where Exactly? From the bottom of the anchor locker ?

I think so, or from forward end of the Vee bearth. I know it dumps into the bilge at the upper forward end of the keel stub. It will be at least a week until I get back aboard, but I will check it. I am sure someone else will chime in here in the meantime too.

On mine that pipe is the drain line from the lower anchor locker to the bilge
Hmm interesting. I could not find any apparent drain in the lower locker when I looked in there before putting in the new shelf. What does that drain line look like ?

Been a while since I looked at it but basically just a hole about the size of the inside diameter of that pipe. I was replacing that bulkhead and found it under a couple inches or rotten wood debris along with dirt and rust. Used a metal coat hanger and to break up anything I could reach inside. It does clog fairly easy unfortunately.

Don’t have an after pic but it was under this mess
